The Smart-Up Lab is an international E-Lab programme organised in parallel in Łódź, Poland, Naples, Italy, and Tartu, Estonia. During the programme, project teams will develop their ideas and products under dedicated mentoring. Participants are invited to learn through immersion and hands-on experience with real life challenges. This brings real value to both participants and the companies or organisations who provide the challenges.

Exploring healthcare business ideas is smart because of there'sa thriving market for health-related businesses. Aspiring new business owners can turn one of many healthcare business ideas into a viable way to make a living.
Nationwide spending on health is projected to grow at an average rate of 5.5% annually through 2026. That’s one percentage point faster than the national GDP is projected to grow during that same time. Wow. By 2026, healthcare is projected to account for nearly 20% of the GDP. A lot.
Employment in healthcare-related occupations is projected to grow 18% from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nearly half of the 20 occupations projected to have the highest percentage increase in employment by 2026 are in the healthcare industry.
About programe activity. Participants will learn about ideation processes, business planning, entrepreneurship, value creation, market research, financing, product presentation and many other skills connected with business creation. They will be lead through the process, including receiving help with decisions about intellectual property protection and future commercialisation.
Programme is addressed to students, PhD candidates, entrepreneurs, graduates with a business, technical, medical, design or humanities profile. You may already have an idea for their innovation, but it is not necessary. The cooperation between various groups of participants integrates the knowledge triangle between education, research and innovation. All activities are geared towards building a new generation with an innovative mind-set, thereby helping to foster an overall improvement in healthcare.How does it work?
Smart-Up Lab programme lasts 4 months. It is partly integrated into University of Tartu sTARTUp Lab STARTER programme. Your progress will be guided and get supervision by experienced mentors. Participation is FREE.
